The Symphony

On the movements of the Earth.

In the name of God, the All-Loving, the Ever-Loving.
All praise and gratitude is to God,
The most beautiful orchestrator of this reality.

Rarely does one come across human writing that so beautifully points towards the signs of God. Not so long ago, I had the delight of finishing Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, a fictional story about those seeking the truth of God’s cosmos in early 15th century dominantly Christian Europe.

In the very first words of the story, I found myself in movement as well.
I pray nothing but divine guidance for the author as he continues in his thaumazein.

I will not narrate the story itself, I recommend all to experience it themselves, giving it the attention and thought that it deserves.

Rather, I hope to simply be a part of the symphony it points to.

To obtain bread, one offers coin.
To obtain rights, one offers taxes.
To obtain wages, one offers labor.
So then, what must one offer up to obtain the truth?

Has it not been man’s honesty that has developed him through the years?
Has it not been his humility to what he saw that succumbed him to say that he doesn’t know?
Has it not been the mountainous, fiery grit of the few that was rewarded?

And has it not been the All-Loving, that made the truth clear to the humble and deniers alike?
Does the sun shine on only the good? and not on those who hide the truth?
And He has not made it difficult to bask in.

Truly, there are truths man is born with, and those he can make an offer to obtain.
A worthy offer.
Complete surrender.
To the symphony of the heavens and the earth,
clear to all.

To bow to the majesty clear to the eye,
that is an offer,
worthy of its truth.

Rafael:
Why put yourself in danger and give up your place in heaven just for this?
Do you want so badly to deny the existence of God?

Hubert:
It’s the opposite. I do it because I believe in God.
Most people believe this world is an ugly place filled with greed and corruption,
while the afterlife is pure and beautiful.
But I can’t accept that.
This world created by God is truly most beautiful.
A person doesn’t need faith, money or status to see that.

I will show, that even trapped in this tiny skull, my intellect is all I need to understand God’s works.

That is why I do not read scripture.
I read nature.

Sifting through the corruption of scriptures past, one can surely find stars in the night. And there are signs in them for those seeking with sincerity. Those who are not, no matter how they try, they can never take from the script of nature, nor inject their ugliness into the heavens.

So let the truth seekers turn to the stars, no matter which era under the moon they reside. Let them find clarity in the oneness of the cosmos, the system that never tires of singing His magnificence, through all countless lives of men.

Let them read His poetry and find Him, in peace.

A life that isn’t frightening is missing its essence.

A wrong answer is not a meaningless one.

Rafael’s battle of rationality. To be rational about self preservation or to submit to the rational beauty of the cosmos.
